The Cape Town International Convention Centre

The Cape Town International Convention Centre project is now reaching completion and this office will be closed at the end of June 2003. We've had a great time and the building looks really good - you can have a glimpse on the website at www.capetownconvention.com

 

The operation eventually developed into two projects with the renovation of an existing parking garage adjacent to the premises, and although it sounds small the level of detailing resulted in a vast number of drawings and documents. 

It was also decided at an early stage that this office would handle all drawings and documents from all consultants, sub-contractors and manufacturers, pushing the number of documents to several thousand and the 'Disciplines' to 63. 

The DRPRO program handled it all with considerable ease and even showed up numbering and revision errors from remote offices immediately, allowing one to sort these out at the onset.

 

Of course there was the inevitable problem of individuals requiring their drawing issue reports and registers showing different information. As you may recall from the various requests this was promptly resolved by providing each one with an Excel spreadsheet to arrange to their liking. 

The project quickly grew too large to handle entire reports at once, but was quite conveniently handled in batches, per portion of the building (as divided up from the start to deal with CAD work) and in disciplines, who required their reports separately anyway. The drawing issue register was also required fortnightly which meant we could compile it in smaller instalments.
